New Ladies records

Great support for the Super Long races at Duddon Valley (229) and two weeks later at Ennerdale (129) has resulted in 75 runners already qualifying by completing both these SL races.

Yet again the Ladies recorded good times at both races - Jackie Lee at Duddon, Jane Reedy at both races, and Julie Carter at Ennerdale, but these performances were eclipsed by British & English champion Janet McIver smashing both records at these two SL races.

Janet laid to rest any doubts about the merits of her 2007 record from the new start at Duddon Valley by reducing that record by 7 minutes to finish 11th in 3.11.26 and at Ennerdale she reduced Trish Calder's 1990 record by nearly 5 minutes to finish 7th in 4.01.33.

These two new records together with her time at the 2000 Borrowdale race establishes Janet McIver in first place ahead of Sarah Rowell in the Top 20 Ladies All Time Ranking at the Lakeland Classics (see articles in the 2006 Fellrunner magazines)
